What is Sabeto Shield Coating?
Sabeto Shield Coating is a fast-drying, water-based aliphatic polyurethane coating developed for professional applications where surfaces need durable protection against moisture, weather exposure, UV, wear and mechanical stress.
It forms a flexible, seamless membrane and can be used as part of waterproofing and coating build-ups on suitable substrates. Primer selection, consumption and system build-up must always be assessed according to the substrate, exposure and project conditions.
Key product points
> Water-based, 1-component PU coating
> Dry to recoat after approx. 3 hours at +23 °C
> Early rain resistant after approx. 1 hour at +23 °C
> Typical consumption: 1–1.2 kg/m² for two layers
> Suitable for roofs, floors, technical areas and demanding waterproofing applications
> Requires suitable surface preparation and the correct primer
Where can it be used?
Sabeto Shield Coating can be used on suitable substrates where protection, sealing or waterproofing is required.
Typical application areas include:
> exposed roof surfaces made of concrete, cement tiles and cementitious substrates
> walkable roofs requiring resistance to ponding water
> metallic surfaces
> existing waterproofing coatings
> PU foam insulation where the surface requires protection
> mineral-surfaced bitumen membranes
> technical areas, plinths, details and local repairs
The listed applications require suitable surface preparation and the correct primer before application.

System build-up

Sabeto Shield Coating is applied as part of a complete coating system, where substrate preparation, primer selection and layer thickness are assessed according to the specific project.
A typical system build-up includes:
- Preparation and cleaning of the substrate
- Application of the correct primer
- First layer of Sabeto Shield Coating
- Second layer of Sabeto Shield Coating
- Additional layer or reinforcement where required by exposure, load or project conditions
Application notes
The first layer may be diluted with up to 5% clean water. The second layer and any subsequent layers are applied undiluted and in a different direction to the previous layer.
In areas with an increased risk of long-term ponding water, polyester fabric reinforcement may be relevant as part of the system build-up. This must always be assessed according to the substrate, slope, exposure and project requirements.
Primer selection
Sabeto Shield Coating must be applied with the correct primer according to the substrate. Primer selection is an important part of the system build-up and supports adhesion, durability and long-term performance.
