Different pipework, different moisture strategy

Hot and cold pipe systems place very different demands on the insulation build-up. Hot pipes often need controlled moisture release, while cold pipes require a tighter finish to reduce the risk of vapour ingress and condensation.

HankoFLEX® combines insulation, flexible PIB membrane, bonded seams and versatile coatings into project-specific systems for industrial pipework. The solution is adapted to operating temperature, pipe geometry, insulation type and the level of access required for service and inspection.

Protection around the weak points

Industrial pipework is rarely simple. Flanges, valves, supports, bends, penetrations and end terminations all create areas where rigid protection can struggle.

HankoFLEX® uses flexible PIB details, adhesive-bonded seams and Sabeto Shield Coating to create more continuous protection around the areas where movement, vibration and complex geometry place the greatest demands on the system.

Hot pipes: controlled moisture release

For hot pipework, the system protects the insulation while allowing residual moisture to escape from the build-up in a controlled way.

The build-up can include temporary or permanent ventilation openings together with a vapour-open Sabeto Shield Coating. This helps avoid trapping moisture inside the system while maintaining a flexible outer protection around the insulation.

  5. Sabeto Shield Coating at critical areas

Cold pipes: diffusion-tight final sealing

Cold pipework requires a tighter vapour-control strategy because moisture ingress and condensation can reduce insulation performance and increase the risk of damage inside the build-up.

Moisture is first allowed to escape through temporary ventilation openings. Once the build-up is ready for closure, the openings are sealed with circular PIB patches and an additional Sabeto Shield layer to create a diffusion-tight finish around the insulated pipework.

Integrated Access for Maintenance and Inspection

Valves, motors and inspection points need to remain accessible for service and maintenance. Opening a conventional insulation system can damage the surrounding protection and create new weak points.

HankoFLEX® can include removable insulated access enclosures adapted to the pipe diameter and component geometry. Custom PIB transitions connect the enclosure to the surrounding insulation, while Sabeto Shield Coating seals the interface.
