What are PIB Corners with Butyl?

PIB Corners with Butyl are prefabricated internal and external corners with a two-layer construction: a UV- and weather-resistant PIB top layer combined with a self-adhesive butyl backing.

They are used in vapour barriers, radon barriers, underlays and wind barriers where difficult corners need to be sealed with a flexible, formable membrane solution. The butyl backing adheres to many common building materials, making the corners suitable for details where a self-adhesive solution is an advantage.

The corner type, dimensions, substrate and installation method must always be selected according to the specific system build-up and project requirements.

  • Areas of application

PIB Corners with Butyl are used for details requiring a flexible, self-adhesive corner solution with water- and vapour-tight properties.

The product is particularly suited to difficult corners, transitions and connections in vapour barriers, radon barriers, underlays and wind barriers.

    Typical applications include:

    1. Internal corners
    2. External corners
    3. Vapour barrier details
    4. Radon barrier details
    5. Underlay details
    6. Wind barrier details
    7. Difficult corners, transitions and connections

The substrate, corner type, dimensions and installation method must always be assessed according to the specific system build-up and project requirements.

    How to use the product

PIB Corners with Butyl are used as prefabricated detailing components in systems incorporating vapour barriers, radon barriers, underlays or wind barriers.

Select either an internal or external corner according to the detail. Position the self-adhesive butyl backing against a suitable substrate so the corner becomes part of the complete seal around transitions, terminations and difficult corner areas.

The substrate, dimensions, overlap, temperature and detailing method must always be assessed according to the specific application and project requirements.

    Application notes

PIB Corners with Butyl must be installed on suitable, clean and dry surfaces.

The corners are self-vulcanising, and joints should be formed with a minimum overlap of 20 mm. Where the corner transitions to other products, use a suitable installation adhesive according to the selected system build-up.

SabetoFLEX Activator Spray may be used when adjustment is required on smooth surfaces, allowing the product to be positioned correctly before final bonding. Installation conditions, substrate and temperature must always be assessed before use.

Always consult the technical data sheet before installation.
